Frequently Asked Questions

What are "Keep In Classroom" items?

"Keep In Classroom" items (KIC) are only shipped with a kit the first time a teacher ever receives it. For example: Ms. Teacher attended kindergarten science training in August and will receive the Plants & Animals kit for the first time in September. A cardboard box will be shipped to her (in addition to the normal kit tubs) that contains fish tanks and dip nets (the KIC items) that should be kept in her possession (not sent back with the kit) until she no longer plans to receive this kit in the future. You may see a list of KIC items for each grade level in the "Packing Lists" section under "Materials Center"

Do I need to send back my teacher manuals?

Teacher manuals are checked out to each teacher and should remain in your possession until you are no longer planning on teaching the units in the future (i.e. you retire, change grade levels, etc). Once you no longer need them, you may send them back inside a kit tub or pack them in separate boxes to send with kits. Please make sure your name is attached to them if there is no name label.

What are "Shipped Separate" items?

Some science kits require perishable and temperature sensitive materials that stay in the climate-controlled portion of the warehouse until they are shipped. If your kit requires a "Shipped Separate Box", these materials will be packed inside a separate cardboard box (not packed in the regular kit totes) and shipped along with your kit.

I just received my kit and there is an item missing. What do I do?
Click here to e-mail the Materials Center Manager. We will get it to you ASAP.

I got an e-mail about items missing from my kit, but I don't have them. What should I do?

These e-mails are automatically generated from our inventory system whenever a materials specialist has to replace a non-consumable item in a kit you used. There is a chance it was packed in another box or sent back at another time. Please do not worry! We will replace these items. We just try to recover them whenever possible to help save money.
